Logan Williams, who helped launch The Flash on The CW, has died. The Canadian actor played the younger version of Barry Allen throughout Season 1 starting from the very first episode of the series, and was only 16-years-old at the time of his death.

Logan Williams died suddenly on Thursday, April 2 at the age of 16. His mother, Marlyse Williams, shared with The Tri-City News that she's "absolutely devastated" by her son's death and not able to grieve with her family due to social distancing. The young actor was arguably best known for his role as young Barry Allen on The Flash.

As young Barry Allen who appeared via flashbacks that shaped who The Flash would become as an adult, Logan Williams helped set up the first season of what would become The CW's smash hit speedster series. He appeared in seven episodes of The Flash Season 1 as well as the Season 2 premiere.

Grant Gustin, who plays the adult version of Barry Allen and currently leads the Arrow-verse's most senior ongoing superhero series, took to social media to honor Logan Williams and share a photo from filming the pilot episode. The photo features Gustin, Williams, and Jesse L. Martin (who shared several flashback scenes with Williams as Joe West), and bears a touching caption:

Grant Gustin sends his thoughts and prayers to Logan Williams and his family in this "unimaginably difficult time," and the attention his post has garnered on Instagram suggests plenty of Flash fans are following his example in mourning the young actor. At the time of writing, after only two hours online, the post has already been liked by more than 700,000 Instagram users and accumulated more than 8,800 comments, including from former Flash actor Robbie Amell.

John Wesley Shipp, who played Henry Allen on The Flash and shared multiple scenes with Logan Williams, took to Twitter with his own tribute to the young actor:

The photos shared by Logan Williams' TV dad also feature Michelle Harrison as Williams' TV mom, Nora Allen. Williams will surely be remembered fondly by legions of Flash fans as well as those he worked with on the show.

Logan Williams did appear in more TV projects than just The Flash, however. Elsewhere on The CW, Williams had a role in a 2015 episode of Supernatural. He also appeared in 13 episodes of Hallmark Channel's When Calls the Heart as Miles Montgomery, starting in 2014 and running through to 2016.

Our thoughts here at CinemaBlend are with the friends, family, and loved ones of Logan Williams in this difficult time.
